👶 Is Beauval suitable for babies and toddlers?
Yes. The paths are wide, many are shaded by trees, and there are plenty of benches for breaks. The toilets have baby changing facilities.
For children under 3, entry is completely free. They still need a free ticket, to add when you book online or at the ticket office.
Pushchair, baby carrier: which one?
The pushchair
The pushchair is the most practical choice for babies under 12 to 15 months. It carries the changing bag and your things, and gives a comfortable spot for the inevitable midday nap. Some areas have slopes or uneven surfaces to manage.
The baby carrier
Some parents prefer a carrier for easier movement and closeness. It is a good option if your child is happy in it and you do not have too much to carry. You can also combine both: carrier in the busier territories, pushchair for the breaks.
🎒 What to bring
- A well-stocked changing bag (nappies, wipes, cream)
- Food for the whole day: bottles, baby food, pouches, snacks
- A hat and baby sun cream for sunny days
- A light blanket or sleeping bag for naps in the pushchair
- A change of clothes (always one more set)
- A comforter or familiar toy
A soft backpack-type cool bag is allowed, but hard cool boxes and large bags are not. Leave suitcases in the car or at the hotel: large luggage is not allowed inside.
⏱️ How long to stay with a baby?
With a baby under 18 months, half a day (3 to 4 hours) is often ideal. Babies are not yet captivated by the animals for long, and tiredness can build quickly, especially in hot weather.
Better a successful half-day than an exhausting full day. Plan around nap time: many babies sleep very well in a pushchair at the zoo.
Between 2 and 3, you can stretch to 5 or 6 hours depending on your child's energy. From 3 or 4, a full day is very doable. Our itinerary for a full day.
🦒 Toddlers' favourite spots at Beauval
The flamingos in the Great South American Aviary
The Cuban flamingos never fail. Their bright colours and movements fascinate babies of just a few months.
The giraffes
Tall, colourful, impressive: giraffes captivate even very young children.
Bucolia
The farm animals, from rabbits to donkeys, are child-sized and close by. There is also a carousel near Le Canard Toqué. See Bucolia.
The playgrounds
Large playgrounds for different ages are near the Le Kilimandjaro food area, close to the Land of the Lions.
🍼 Food, changing and breaks
The ZooParc's toilets have baby changing facilities. Spot them on the map as soon as you arrive so you are not hunting for them in a hurry.
At the food outlets, microwave ovens are available to heat up your child's meal, according to the ZooParc. The restaurants also offer children's menus.
Picnic areas are available outside the park. A picnic at midday is a cheap and practical option with a baby: see picnics at Beauval.
📅 When to go with a baby?
Spring (April-May, outside French bank holiday weekends) and early autumn (September) are the best times for families with babies:
- Mild temperatures, neither too hot nor too cold
- Fewer crowds than in July and August, so less stress for parents
- Babies are spared the summer heat on the paths
- Pushchairs are easier to manoeuvre
Avoid July and August with a very young baby: the heat and the crowds make the day much harder. Our full guide to the best times.
